One of our favorite things to do is to sit in our chairs on the patio that are right in front of the hummingbird feeder.  They watch us watching them.  I never tire of their antics, they are aggressive, curious, intelligent and totally amazing.

This year, for the first time, we had a Rufous Hummingbird hang out at the feeder for a couple of weeks on its migration north and also every year we are visited by what I have been told is the Violet Crowned Hummingbird.  We also have the "regulars" who are here year round.

The hummingbirds are at the feeder all day; but are most active in the early morning and at sunset.  The other night there were 7 of them fighting over who was eating when, I never thought to go and get the camera to capture them.

Tonight I took the camera out and of course there were only 3 or 4 fighting over the feeding rights.
You can hear all the other birds starting to settle down for the night in the background, in the morning we get to listen to them all singing their hearts out as they wake up for the day.

New Kids on the Block

We knew just by looking around the street that there were going to be some new kids on the block soon.
Some arrived and shortly thereafter disappeared, never to be seen again as happens often here.
These came out of hiding yesterday; but I don't imagine that they will be around long either.  It is a tough life out on the street for them.
For now they are cute.

Lunch Today

It is a shame to realize how boring I have become.  If I'm not posting photos of paintings then it is photos of food.  No excitement here for sure.

I have used this recipe for sweet and sour meatballs with peaches for years and still go back to it every few months, along with rice that is what is our lunch today.  The peaches in the sauce instead of the pineapple that most recipes call for is different and we like it for a change.

Weather is lovely, 28 C., sunny, very little breeze.  We have been sitting outside on the patio more again the last while, nice.
Ok, back to my painting now.  Roy is cleaning up the lunch.

Visitors In Town

Yesterday I was in the middle of cooking our lunch when the phone rang.  On the other end of the line was a lady, originally from Guaymas; but now living in California.  I knew that she and her husband were supposed to be in town this week.  Doug had commented on the blog several years ago and we had met them when they were visiting that year.  Last year we missed seeing them as we were in Canada when they were here.  We set up a time to meet and then sat down to eat our lunch.
Lunch yesterday was a green mixed salad with balsamic vinegar dressing, garlic toast and spaghetti with homemade tomato and mushroom sauce, along with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese to top it.
It was good.

After lunch we were off to centro to meet them at the Malecon.  We sat and chatted by the water while their daughter and grandson skate boarded on the malecon.  At this time of the day there are no places to buy a drink there so we wandered over to another park in front of the church and got a drink and some fresh fruit from my usual vendor on the corner.  Sat in the shade and chatted some more.  A nice afternoon.  They are only here for a few days more so I doubt that we will see them again this trip.  We were glad to have a few hours to visit with them in between their family visits.  Until next time guys.

Home again, we relaxed for a couple of hours before I went to my art class at the Casa de la Cultura.
